Nursery News

The staff from Acorn and Oak Nursery would like to extend a BIG thank you to all the parents who Stayed and Played this week.  More than 40 parents managed to come which is magnificent.

Thanks also goes to the superb nursery staff for providing activities with such great enthusiasm.  We hope to arrange more special events later in the year.

Achievements of Former Pupils

Sam and Emma Tillyer both attended Chorlton Park and have gone on to be very successful at their chosen secondary schools. Emma for played a very active part in school life and continued this energy throughout her time at Whalley Range High; playing clarinet in the wind band, achieving her Duke of Edinburgh Award.  She also got an award run by Manchester City Council for outstanding attendance, citizenship and learning.
Emma is now 19 years old and reading English Literature at Manchester University after achieving A and B Grade A-Levels in English Language, English  Literature and Government and Politics at Xavarian College.

Sam is 17 years old and currently taking AS levels in English Language, English Literature, History and Ancient Civilisations.

“Emma and Sam came from a very small village school and lacked confidence in their learning prior to moving to Manchester and attending Chorlton Park Primary.  I feel the move had a pivotal influence in their success in education.

I therefore want to say a big thank you and hope that their younger sister gets as much out of her primary school life as her siblings obviously did.”

Year 4 Tudor Day

We have seen some fabulous costumes today up in Year 4.  Thank you for all the effort from parents and children.

Volunteer Parents

We are still looking for parents to volunteer a few hours to come in to listen to children read.  We are particularly looking for volunteers to work with the older age groups.

Parent Feedback

It is great to hear how parents and children feel about what goes on in school and so I have included comments received this week…

“The super heroes and villains week was definitely a huge success with my
children what better way to teach a five year old boy than through superheroes?

My daughter was equally excited about the poet coming in, designing a water woman and creating her very own adventure.   Learning was, truly irresistible.

I measure success by the number of times my children come out of school
saying Guess what, guess what…?!

With the Guess what, WOW factor I think you can actually see children’s brains light up ready to learn. It would be great to see more of this.”
