Admissions to Secondary School

The application packs for children due to go to secondary school in September 2010 will be sent out to families by the Admissions Team at the Local Authority at the beginning of September.

The Admissions Team will not be running information sessions for parents this year.  If you have any queries about your choices for secondary schools in Manchester you can e-mail  Sue Daniels and Jean Molnar (choice advisers) on choice@manchester.gov.uk

Nursery News

All the staff would like to wish everyone a happy and fun holiday.  We wish all the children luck who are moving in to Reception in September.  Tank you to all the parents and families who are moving up too for your enthusiasm for Nursery events throughout the year.  For the children and parents who will still be with us in September there will be two Play Bag Activity Sessions during the first two weeks of the school year.  WE will let you now more details on the fist day of school.  Your children will receive Play Bags in the 1st Half Term.  Once again Thank you for your help throughout the year.

Girls Vs Staff Football Match

The girls played really well and beat the staff

9 – 5.  Thank you to all the teachers who played.

Year 6 Leavers Disco

This year we had a disco off site at the Irish Centre and the children were all a credit to the school, Mrs Burgess and Mr Watson would like to commend the children for their behaviour and thank the Year 6 staff for their work in organising the event.

A Poem by Nathan Cox about his time at Chorlton Park Primary

I entered the school, it was really big,

The doors closed there was no going back.

I trembled my new class was near,

Then I saw some old friend, Myles, Jude, Eddy, Zac.

In reception we played through the day,

I guess at the time school was okay.

I was in R2, the class of Mrs Lee,

We found it fun – my friends and me.

My first trip was to Chester Zoo,

I found it fun, Woohoo, Woohoo.

There were elephants insects and birds that flew,

Everyone else enjoyed it too.

Year 1 started out quite nice,

We played games involving dice.

Then Mrs Wray gave us work quite bad,

We were tortured and driven mad.

Year 2 brought the best; Mr Green,

Never ever was he being mean.

One day someone brought in a snake,

Another we made a really big cake.

In year 3 the work was mean,

It was the worst we’d ever seen.

Despite this it was still quite fun,

We all beamed like a sun.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

A few tears were shed today as we said goodbye to the current year 6.

School Volunteers

Mr Watson and all the school staff would like to thank all the volunteers who have worked have in school over the last year and to recognise what an important role they play in school.  We have parents, carers and other volunteers who give up lots of time to come in to school and listen to readers or come along on trips and visits.  We could not manage without you.

Reception Garden Party

Thank you to all parents and carers who came to the party and dressing the children up in red.  The assembly was wonderful and it was great to share it with so many of our adults.

Just a quick note to say thank you again to everyone who has helped with events and meetings this year. Over the holidays we’ll be working like mad on the new school calendar (on sale at the winter fair) which will, as always, feature new and interesting ways to humiliate/appreciate our wonderful teaching staff! Thank you to them in advance for being such good sports. Have a great summer.

Picnic in the Park

If you are looking for something to do over the holidays, fancy a bit of company or want to get out of the house, then join us for a Picnic in the Park.

Meet Sharon Drinkwater, our Parent Support Advisor on Friday 24th July outside the gate leading into the park (by the Year 6 block).

Look forward to seeing you there!

Year 6 Leavers Family Event

Over 70 parents and children attended and it was a really nice event.  Thanks to the school for letting us have use of the hall at such a hectic time of year.

Thank you to Mrs Burgess and the organising committee for helping to put on this event.

School Dinner Money

If you still have any dinner money outstanding please come into the office on Monday between 8.30 and 4.00.

From September Dinner Money remains the same as this year; £1.80 per day; £9.00 per week.

1st Autumn Half Term to October – £68.40

Full Autumn Term to December – £131.40

Trip Money

We are calculating the cost of trips for each year group. In September we will be able to let parents know what the total costs will be for the year.  This is so that you can choose how you want to pay; weekly; monthly etc.  We will let you have more information in September.

Have a Great Summer

We would like to wish all children a happy and safe summer and see you refreshed and ready to learn in the new year.

We did a play all about fish,

It was more than we could wish.

It was all about a commotion,

That happened underneath the ocean.

In year 4 we studied hard,

Making books out of card.

We were driven round the bend,

Before year 4 managed to end.

In year 5 I had Ms Wray again,

The work got hard – full of pain.

For set maths I had Mrs Wood,

She made us work all we could.

In year 6 I had Mr G,

He was as mad as could be.

Despite this I had fun,

With all the activities we have done.

The residential was the best,

Although the mud was a pest.

Zip wire, archery and night line,

Everything was a happy time.

Now I’m going to Chorlton High,

I’m so exited I could fly,

All the way in the sky.

So Chorlton Park, Bye, Bye.

Thank you Nathan and good luck to all of Year 6 in their future, we hope you continue to be a credit to your new high schools.  Keep in touch and let us know how it is going.
