This week our children achieved an overall percentage of 93% (Nursery not included). 

 

Year 4 will be having an Egyptian Day on Thursday 22nd October.   We would like the children to dress up as Egyptians for the day.  Year 4 parents are invited to join us in our classrooms on the morning at 9am where a variety of Egyptian activities will be going on, followed by a fashion show for the children to show off their outfits!

 

Safety in the park

We have been informed of an alleged incident in the park.

 

Please be aware that whilst the park provides a beautiful backdrop to our school, it can also be a place of danger.

 

We will also speak to the children in assembly on Monday.

 

Consultation with parents

We believe that this is your school and we are privileged to work with your children.

Come and Support Us

Last week the Year 6 boys’ team played St Kentigerns and thrilled the crowd with an amazing 10-0 win.  The team will be playing St Margaret’s straight after school tonight and then St Anthony’s on Tuesday.  It would be great if you could come and cheer us on.

 MoneyWe’ve been spending our money again this week. £300 towards new Playmobil equipment for Years 3 and 4. Do let us know if you’ve an idea for PTA funds by picking up a Project Approval form from the office.

We’re organising three discos for November, keep an eye out for the letter

 

PTA in the Playground

Next Friday 23rd, straight after school we’ll be setting up shop in the playground. An opportunity for you to tell us what we’re doing right or wrong, sign up to help and scoff a few cakes while you’re at it.

Just a reminder that Saturday is Family Learning Day, where we have loads of great activities arranged for you to join in

Just a reminder that Saturday is Family Learning Day, where we have loads of great activities arranged for you to join in with your children. 

If you haven’t already signed up for anything, just drop in on the day, no limit to what you take part in!

 

So come and try your hand at balalaika, French, Salsa, guide to using the Macs, to name but a few.

 

Also, during the following week, we have a number of after school sessions that you are welcome to come along to. All sessions begin at 3.30pm. Meet in the main dining hall.

Wednesday – Soca Aerobics

 

Year 5 Trip

Nursery News

We would like to say a huge thank you to the family of Rajan Kaur for donating items which we used to raise extra funds to purchase Diwali resources with.  We were thrilled with the enthusiasm of all our families for our sale.  Because of your generosity and support we will be able to get some exciting new things for next year.  We will let you know what these are once they arrive!

 

Please remember to come along to Stay and Play next week.  There are still places available if you want to sign up.  It has been a lovely week in Nursery this week and we have all grown up and how much more we can do for ourselves since your last visit.

 

Next week’s colour is Purple.  We are also talking about families next week.  We would appreciate it if you could bring a family photo in for us to photocopy.  We will return it to your as soon as possible.

Harvest Festival

Please remember that on Tuesday we have an opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, who are needy and homeless.

 

Could you remember to please send a small gift of food with your child on Tuesday 6th October.  It can be tinned, fresh or dried.

 

We have a visitor coming from the Salvation Army who is going to take away your gifts to use at their shelters for homeless people and to take to needy families in the area.

 

This was a great success last year and we managed to help many people, we are hoping to do even better this year?

 

Year 3 Pirate Day

Year 3 are celebrating their work this term on pirates with a Pirate Day on Friday 23rd October. 

 

Nursery News

Next week’s colour is Orange

As part of Story Week we will try to read your child’s favourite book if they bring it in.  Ensure the name is on the inside cover of the book and hand it to one of the teachers so that they can store it safely.

 

Children need to bring a weather proof coat everyday as the weather changes frequently.  Book bags and Blue Play Bags should be returned on Monday, so that the contents can be checked and replaced in preparation for the next time they are sent out.

 

School Book Fair

What a great way to celebrate World Book Day than with a book fair.  Running in the Infant Hall before school at 8.30-9.00 and after school at 3.30-4.00.

We are working on the Headteacher’s Report to come out later this term so that we can keep you updated on school developments.  There is also a Parents Meeting on Mon 12th Oct at 9am in the dining room.

 

As well as this we are running two informal focus meetings in the library on Tue 13th Oct at 9.00-9.30  & Fri 16th Oct at 9.00-9.30 and again 3.00-3.20.  This will be your opportunity to bring any questions or issues to a discussion.  Please let us have your questions in advance by e-mail or in writing to the office.

 

Phonics Workshop for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Parents and Carers

Come along and find out about what your child is learning during phonics.

 PTA News

 
We’ve been spending money again this week: £432 on brand new dictionaries for each and every year 3 pupil. If you want to apply for PTA funds, pick up a Project Approval Form from the school office. We’d love to hear from you.

 

If you want to apply for PTA funds to spend on the school, fill in the project form available on the website or pick up a form from the office and hand it back office once complete. We consider each application very carefully and may ask you to pop in and talk to us. We’d love to hear from you.

 

Book Sale

Thank you to Gisele and co for organising the book sale last Friday. It was as popular as ever and we hope you’re all enjoying your bargain books.

Parent / School Partnership Survey

The Parent Support Worker, Ian Depeiaza, will be on the playground from Tuesday afternoon onwards, at drop off and pick up times to talk to parents about Family Learning Week and find out what parents and carers at this school would like included.  He will also be giving more information about what workshops and stalls we already have planned.
